Texas Instruments (TI) India, a global semiconductor design and manufacturing company has announced the initiation of the TI MCU Design Contest 2014. The top three finalists will win a total of Rs.3 lakh for their engineering projects that exhibit innovation, design proficiency and technical adeptness at the most.  The three phased contest is a national level design challenge where the working professionals across India are invited to push the boundaries of their technical knowledge.

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) founded in 1951 with headquarters in Texas and Bangalore develops analog ICs and embedded processors. By employing the world's brightest minds, TI creates innovations that shape the future of technology.

In TI’s first MCU design contest in 2012, ‘wireless security hub for telecom and broadband service providers’ project by Maven Systems won the prize. With its success, TI has declared the contest that begins on May 23rd 2014, across India. The participants are required to submit the project proposal by July 22nd 2014. Every design must include one TI microcontroller (MSP430®, C2000®, TIVA®, Hercules® platforms) that offers the broadest range of microcontroller solutions.

The selected 50 teams will need to submit the final report along with a video link demonstrating the project. From the 50 teams, the top 10 projects will be selected to compete amongst themselves in the final round. The top 10 contestants will also get an opportunity to display their work at TI on 23rd November 2014. To participate in the contest one can register in TI’s website.

“Our broad range of microcontrollers powers a number of applications including designs for automotive, industrial, internet of things, energy harvesting that are greener, faster, safer and more fun. We look forward to seeing how the participants leverage the features of TI’s microcontrollers to create innovative projects that can shape the future of electronics,” says Mr. Seetharaman Devendran, General Manager - Microcontrollers, Texas Instruments (India).
